The 2015 Global Sustainability Institute Conference will bring together leaders from academia, business, government, NGOs and beyond, to discuss the interface between sustainability research and public policy and practice.

Today's researchers are judged not only on the academic quality of their work but upon the 'impact' of their research on the real world. Carbon emissions, biodiversity, economic systems, behaviours and practices are being modelled, mapped, observed and studied in an attempt to both understand and influence the real world. But how successful has it been in driving change

Examples of sub-topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Measuring the impact of evidence-based policy making
  • Supporting decision making under deep uncertainty and the role of expert judgement
  • Where is sustainability on the political agenda for the May 2015 UK parliamentary elections?
  • Is it the role of academics to communicate sustainability research?
  • The importance of personal and public credibility of academics involved in climate change and sustainability research
  • The role of social media in communicating on climate change and sustainability.
